Research Methods in Human Relations Coursework Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Research Methods in Human Relations - Coursework Example Lastly, the third study was merely attempting to draw inference no whether or not drivers were aware of the fact that others had an impact upon the amount of time they took to leave a parking spot (Ruback & Juieng, 1997). Although these research questions are similar in many ways, it cannot be understood that they are the same by any means. In total, the general phenomena of interest can be determined to be human behavior and the way in which constraints and understandings of territory or other factors impact upon the way in which humans act towards one another. Methodological triangulation was used by seeking to discuss what was expected, justify this with theory, and then measure these outputs against experiment yields. This is both qualitative and quantitative research due to the fact that numbers are readily engaged as a means of drawing inference upon the area of interest. Though it is impossible not to have any degree of bias with regards to any experiment, it appears as if the researchers in this particular case did their very best to avoid any large degree of observer bias. This is due to the fact that no broad generalizations, racial stereotypes, or sexism was found anywhere within the study in question. In such a way, it is impossible to ever have a situation in which truly unbiased or unobtrusive observation can occur; however, this is a benchmark that all researchers should strive towards. Exercise #6 One of the key topics I continually find myself interested in is with regards to the dynamics of marriage as it is neither a natural or evolutionary process connected to life as are so many other processes and actions of human reproduction, behavior, and survival mechanisms. Likewise, with regards to this aspect of behavior and rational action, I can say that I found the discussion regarding marital satisfaction to be particularly interesting due to the fact that it is a useful research topic in helping to not only understand marriage to a more appreci able level, it also helps to integrate a better understanding of divorce ratios and statistics within our current time. With regards to operationally defining such a concept/construct, it is necessary to first realize the fact that it would be necessary to narrow the focus to something that could be manageably researched. In such a way, it would be necessary to seek to measure such an operationally defined mechanism within a relatively narrow framework so that the most inference could be gained. Likewise, in order to accomplish such a goal, a strategy that might be employed would to be to seek to decipher the level of impact that divorced parents has upon overall divorce levels in their children. In such a way, the research will seek to create something of a standardized measurement of divorce that seeks to provide a level of inference with regards to the issues at hand. Exercise #7 The first advantage of using a mailed questionnaire is quite obvious and ultimately has to do with se eking to derive a high level of diversity and blindness with regards to the respondents which will be included. Such an approach has traditionally worked quite well with regards to the general population and allowed for a degree of diversity that could not have been engaged by many other means (Adler, 2011). However, it should not be understood that a particular approach that Enos took with regards to engaging in this particular study was the most efficient and effective with regards the given population that

Human Resources in the Hotel Paris Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Human Resources in the Hotel Paris - Essay Example The gap is one of alignment between larger company strategy of superior service and superior customer experience, on the one hand, and how the company at present compensates its employees, which does not necessarily bring out the best out of those employees (â€Å"The Hotel Paris Case†; Freedman and Kosova 1-4). There is a disconnect between what the company hopes to achieve, which is establishing the hotel as providing superior guest services, on the one hand, and on the other hand the way the company in general just pays average wages in comparison to the industry, and in some cases pays lower than average industry wages for some of the roles. The challenge is in aligning pay levels with the crafted strategy to provide differentiated, superior hotel services to guests, in comparison to the industry level of services. This strategy is hoped to elevate company profitability and viability in the long term, but the current employee compensation strategy of paying employees just what the industry pays on average will not help the company achieve its larger goals (â€Å"The Hotel Paris Case†; Freedman and Kosova 1-4). Tied to salaries, there is a disconnect between what the company wants to achieve, superior service, and the way the current compensation strategy pays employees the same way regardless of performance. Superior service means superior employee performance, but at present employees have no motivation or reason to perform, given that pay is not tied to the way they do their work. There are no incentives in place to reward good work. Moreover, the current pay strategy does not stimulate interest from top performers in the industry to go work for Hotel Paris, because there are no incentives to work hard in order to move ahead. The current pay strategy may have encouraged mediocre employees to stay (â€Å"The Hotel Paris Case†; Freedman and Kosova 1-4). There is obviously a price to pay for superior service, and that price is employee pay that is on par or superior to what the industry pays. Superior pay may mean a compensation package that is superior, and not just necessarily based on gross financial pay.

REFLECTIVE REPORT - Essay Example During the first meeting, we engaged in a brain storming session in which each of us though of possible topics/subtopics for discussion. We evaluated the numerous suggestions and narrowed down the subtopics to a few. Based on the few areas, each member of the group was assigned one part to research and write on. We agreed by consensus that each person would also present the part that they had researched on on the day of the presentation. Abiola was assigned the topics myths and religion and religious beliefs while Bernadin was assigned the part of defining science and religion. Oluwabumni was to research on the relationship between religion and science even as Tuoyo researched on the kind of relationship that may arise between science and religion. Kalu was to do the conclusion while I was to work on the introduction. In the meetings that followed, we basically got updates on the progress made by each group member. Based on the information that each one of us gathered, we made comments, criticized, and made suggestions as we deemed fit. This was meant to see us come up with the best possible presentation. As we discussed on the progress of each member, we were keen to ensure that our criticisms and comments were objective rather than subjective. In preparation for the presentation, I relied on different sources of information. I visited the British Library where I got access to several useful sources. I had a more or less similar experience to what I had previously at the library. The amount of information related to the topic was overwhelming and I had a bit of trouble narrowing down to a few books, journals, and periodicals. I was lucky to have had a previous experience with the same situation and so I took less time settling down of the few sources that I finally read and used as sources for the presentation.

In addition during the resent years, those companies, as well as numerous new ones -e.g. consulting integrators such as Accenture - compete Unisys in the new market of Systems integrators and Integrated Solutions Providers. Problems of the Unisys Corporation Although... This essay stresses that most of the leading players realized that in order to maintain their leading position they had to become more client focused, i.e. more focused to the client needs than to just selling computer boxes. In that way they quite successfully transformed their products from just â€Å"computers† to solutions. Their marketing strategy changed in order to be service oriented rather than product oriented. Customers should now have to choose integrated IT solutions, not just IT systems. This is what made the difference. Unfortunately Unisys did not do that well in that field. Although the company did make efforts to become a systems/solutions integrator, by developing consulting services in parallel to selling products, it was not made possible to catch up with competition. As a consequence, the company profitability has fallen dramatically during the recent years. Financial results of the recent years have been relatively weak for a firm of such size. This article makes a conclusion that a new strategy and organizational change are required in order to reposition the Unisys brand name in order to create competitive advantage against its competitors, based on the improvement of the following main elements. Within the last decades Unisys has experienced certain problems due to its lack of solid strategy, increasing competition and market saturation. The company requires revising of its strategy and organizational structure in order to ensure its competitive advantage and leading position in its field in the years to come.

Primary questions to the research were inquiring whether youth gang violence is as a result of illegal drugs and small arms, the contribution of the media in the problem, political and social problems to the problem, and the possible measures taken to alleviate the problem. Assignment Example By having monopolies on these sectors, economies of scale can be achieved; which means the cost of per unit production of a product or service decline as the output volume increases. By having more than one supplier would often be wasteful for consumers and economies; besides, this would increase the cost aggregately ( linfo, web). In the United States of America, United States Postal Service is government-owned entity that has monopoly over postal services with above given reason. The regulated monopoly of American Telephone & Telegraph Company, commonly known as AT&T, and its Bell System efficiently worked in its initial period of history. The AT&T came into existence in 1875, with founder Alexander Graham Bell’s invention of the telephone (Corp.att.web). It enjoyed the monopoly in the telecommunication industry due to its technological advancements at that time and there was no other firm that could become able to secure that kind of technology. As a result, telephones and telecommunication fast spread across America. Monopolies facilitate investment in research and development. Microsoft experienced monopoly by introducing the latest technology in the shape of MS-DOS and windows operating systems in its early era of 1990s and 2000s.
